What movies are out on DVD this week

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the famous story of the nice young man, Charlie Bucket, who finds a golden ticket that allows him to take a dream tour of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Charlie and his grandpa Joe accompany four other kids and their parents on tour. While Charlie is a nice, well-mannered boy, the other kids are spoiled, rude, and greedy. Of course, the other kids are disposed of one-by-one when their personality flaws lead them to danger.

Johnny Depp replaces Gene Wilder in the role of Willy Wonka and fails to come near Wilder's incredible performance in the original. This remake of the 1971 classic features lots of special effects as well as the unique imagination Tim Burton. Charlie and the Chocolate factory is filled with the type of special effects one would expect from a movie of this magnitude and genre. Extras include featurettes that detail the making of the movie, a feature on Roald Dahl, and a feature that shows how live squirrels were trained for the movie.
